Dental Implants
“What is an implant?” In the easiest terms, it is a new tooth root. It should be placed by an
implant specialist, and allowed to heal properly before having it restored by your general dentist.

Extraction
It is a well know fact that immediately after the extraction of teeth, the bony sockets collapse and continue to shrink – causing major cosmetic defects and more importantly, loss of vital bone necessary to place dental implants.
Periodontal Treatments
AAP treatment guidelines stress that periodontal health should be achieved in the least invasive and most cost-effective manner. Unless the longterm prognosis is poor, surgical treatment can help patients.
Gum Grafts
If you have been told you have recession, you may need a gum graft. There are two different types, Free Gingival Graft or Connective Tissue Graft. The aim is to cover the exposed root surfaces.
Crown Lengthening Surgery
Your dentist may recommend dental crown lengthening to make a restorative procedure possible. Crown lengthening adjusts the gum and bone level to expose more of the tooth so it can be restored.
Bone Grafting
When bone is destroyed by gum disease, it can no longer adequately support the teeth, eventually leading to total tooth loss. In these cases, bone grafting or regenerative surgery is recommended.
